Students use Valentine’s Day Fundraiser for Haiti Relief

The students of Edmonton-area school using their Valentine’s Day fundraiser to help those in Haiti devastated by the recent earthquakes in their area. The students were originally going to be exchanging candy grams, but due to a recent change brought on by the students the fundraiser has been changed to Hearts for Haiti.

Starting today (1/20) students will be selling hearts for $1 where the buyer can write a message on it and it will hang in the school’s gymnasium. All the money collected will be donated to the Red Cross for the relief fund for Haiti.

Students use fundraising money to help a classmate

A heart touching story comes to us from Palm Springs California. The students from Raymond Cree Middle School all unanimously decided to divert their fundraising efforts to help fellow classmate Ciria Silva.

Ciria lost her mother and three siblings in a tragic New Year’s Day fire at their home. Ciria was staying with other relatives at the time.

The students from the school are all donating their fundraising profits to Ciria for a college fund, which have initially been intended for the year-end class trip. The community has stepped up as well providing money and clothes for Ciria. The fundraisers will continue, including singing telegrams to students for Valentine’s Day.
